Do you know about WOTA? WOTA is the Western Oakland Transportation Authority and is an amazing transportation option for seniors in the area.
Who can use WOTA?
Eligible riders are residents of Groveland, Highland, Holly, Rose, Waterford and White Lake townships,and Village of Holly, Keego Harbor, Lake Angelus, Orchard Lake, Sylvan Lake and Walled Lake, and are either a senior (55+ years old), an adult with disabilities (18+ years old, with professional verification), a veteran, or low-income families. Pilot program in affect for general population in Highland only.
The following items are necessary to qualify:
a. Completed WOTA Application Passenger Information Form,
b. Proof of residency (driver’s license, current utility bill, etc.) with your name and address,
c. If disabled, a Professional Verification Form is to be completed by the doctor, counselor, etc. proving your disability, WOTA will wait up to 60 days to receive. If low income, complete the verification form found here.
d. Low income form.
What does it cost?
The cost for the service is a nominal fee of $2.00 ($4.00 for Highland General Population) for all one-way rides in our service area. Riders must have exact fare (our drivers do not carry change), check or pre-purchased punch card. Punch cards are $20 for 10 one-way tickets plus, you receive 1 FREE ride!
Purchasing Punch Cards: Punch cards may be purchased by calling 248-887-4979, mailing a check to, or visiting the office at 250 W. Livingston Rd., Highland, MI 48357. Drivers also carry cards with them and accept check or exact cash amounts.
Do MI MED customers get any benefits? Yes! If you use WOTA to get a ride to MI MED and you make a purchase, we will deduct your WOTA ride cost (maximum one rider) from your total bill. Your total bill just needs to be more than 20 dollars!
